Fire Mode
What is Fire Mode ?
Fire Mode is designed to keep the drive operating during an emergency, allowing continued motor operation until the drive can no longer sustain operation.
Typical applications include smoke extraction and emergency ventilation systems used to maintain evacuation routes during a building fire.
Caution
Fire Mode suppresses selected faults to maintain operation during an emergency condition. Only enable Fire Mode where permitted by applicable standards and the overall system design.
Before You Start
Before configuring Fire Mode:
Ensure the motor and drive have been fully commissioned.
Provide a dedicated 24 VDC signal from the Fire Alarm System.
Provide a run command to the drive.
This requirement does not apply when using P-15 = 19.
Configure Fire Mode
Choose an option in parameter P-15 where Fire Mode is assigned to a digital input. E.g. P-15 = 16.

Note
When P-15 = 19 the drive will run whenever the Fire Mode input is active, even if no run command is present.
During Fire Mode, the drive speed is taken from P-30.5 Fire Mode Speed. If no Fire Mode Speed is configured, the drive will continue to use the commanded speed from the active speed selection inputs.
Connect the Fire Alarm System output to the digital input assigned for Fire Mode.
Verify that the wiring matches the selected P-15 control macro.
Set the required operating speed using P-30.5 Fire Mode Speed.
Note
If P-30.5 = 0 (default), the Fire Mode speed reference follows the drive's normal speed reference selection, as defined by the active control macro.

Fire Mode remains active only while the Fire Mode input is present.

A momentary Fire Mode signal activates Fire Mode and latches the function.
Note
When latched, Fire Mode remains active until the drive is disabled or power is removed.
Parameters P-30.3 and P-30.4 are ignored when P-15 = 19.
When Fire Mode is active:
The display shows "FirE".
The drive operates using the configured Fire Mode settings.
Selected fault conditions are suppressed to maintain operation.
The following drive fault messages are ignored :
O-t (Heat-sink Over-Temperature)
U-t (Drive Under Temperature)
Th-FLt (Faulty Thermistor on Heat-sink)
E-trip (External Trip)
4-20 F (4-20mA fault)
Ph-Ib (Phase Imbalance)
P-Loss (Input Phase Loss Trip)
SC-trp (Communications Loss Trip)
I.t-trp (Accumulated overload Trip)
The following faults will result in a drive trip, auto reset and restart: -
O-Volt Over Voltage on DC Bus
U-Volt Under Voltage on DC Bus
h O-I Fast Over-current Trip
O-I Instantaneous over current on drive output
Out-F (Drive output fault, Output stage trip).

The display will show "FirE" when the fire mode input is active,
The Relay output (Terminals C, NO,NC) can be used to indicate when Fire Mode is active, to do this set P-18 to "10"
The Digital output (Terminal AD1) can be used to indicate when Fire Mode is active, to do this set P-25.0 to "di9" and P-25.1 to 10
Problem | Solution |

Note
In the E3 series product the Fire mode (fixed) speed was set in parameter P-23, whereas E4 has a dedicated fire mode speed parameter P-30.5
